Good morning — here's where gold and silver stand this Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
In short (8 September 2026): 24K gold is around ₹1,54,140/10g and 22K around ₹1,41,290/10g; silver is about ₹2,49,900/kg. Gold has steadied back above its recent pivot on a softer dollar, but a big US inflation reading due Thursday and next week's US Fed meeting keep the near-term read two-sided and sideways. These are indicative India reference levels — AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.
Today's rates at a glance
- 24K gold: around ₹1,54,140 per 10g (indicative)
- 22K gold: around ₹1,41,290 per 10g (indicative)
- Silver: about ₹2,49,900 per kg (indicative)
These are indicative India reference levels only. The single rate that actually bills your purchase is AT Jewels' live counter/board rate at the moment you buy — ask us in store or on WhatsApp for the exact figure.
What is moving the market this week
Two things are pulling in opposite directions. On one side, the US dollar has eased a little and there's a steady safe-haven bid from the Middle East (oil is near a six-week high), and that has helped gold climb back above the level it had been hovering around. On the other side, after last week's strong US jobs data, traders are now pricing roughly a 60% chance that the US Fed raises rates at next week's meeting — and higher rates are usually a headwind for gold and silver. So the two forces are roughly cancelling out.
The real test comes Thursday, when US inflation figures are released, followed by the Fed's decision on 15–16 September. Until those land, prices are likely to chop around rather than pick a clear direction. Silver, as always, is the more restless of the two — it firmed a bit more than gold, but it can swing sharply either way.
The near-term view
For families buying for a wedding or a festival, the honest read is sideways: gold looks range-bound near current levels, roughly a percent either side, with the same for silver but with wider daily swings. This is a week where the calendar — not a trend — is in charge. My usual advice holds: buy by your need and your date, split a larger purchase into parts rather than trying to time a single "perfect" day, and don't chase a green morning or panic on a red one. Nobody can promise which way Thursday's data pushes prices.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today 24K gold is around ₹1,54,140 per 10g and 22K around ₹1,41,290 per 10g (indicative). Your final price depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of billing.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about ₹2,49,900 per kg (indicative) today.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
The near-term read is sideways. A softer dollar and Middle-East risk are supporting gold, while a possible US rate hike is holding it back — and Thursday's US inflation data is the swing factor. That's a genuinely two-sided setup, so no one can be certain which way it breaks.
