Good morning — here is your gold and silver update for 29 September 2026.
In short (29 September 2026): 24K gold is around ₹1,46,819/10g and 22K around ₹1,34,584/10g; silver is about ₹2,28,723/kg. Both eased over the last two sessions on a strong US dollar, higher US bond yields and firm Fed-hike expectations — gold has steadied this morning while silver is still finding its feet, so the near-term read is broadly sideways ahead of a key US inflation figure due tomorrow. These are indicative India reference levels — AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.

What is moving the market this week
The pressure on both metals right now is coming from the United States. The US dollar has firmed, US government bond yields have pushed up to some of their highest levels in years, and traders are pricing in a fair chance of another US interest-rate rise at the end of October — roughly a coin-toss-to-two-thirds bet at the moment. When yields and the dollar are this firm, gold and silver usually struggle, and that is exactly what we saw on Monday when both fell sharply.
Closer to home, the rupee is sitting near record-weak levels against the dollar (around 96), which softens the fall in Indian rupee prices somewhat — a weaker rupee makes imported gold dearer, cushioning the drop you see on the counter. All eyes are now on a key US inflation reading (core PCE) due tomorrow evening India time; it is the single biggest thing that could move prices this week, in either direction.
The near-term view
After a hard two-day slide, gold looks to be steadying and silver is trying to base out at lower levels — so the honest read for today is broadly sideways, with a good chance of choppy trade until tomorrow's US inflation number lands. A softer reading could spark a bounce; a hot one could keep the pressure on. Nobody can call that print in advance, so if you are buying for a wedding or festival, the sensible approach is unchanged: buy by your need and your date, spread the purchase into parts rather than timing a single day, and don't chase either a red day or a green one. These lower levels are, if anything, a friendlier entry than a fortnight ago.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today 24K gold is around ₹1,46,819 per 10g and 22K around ₹1,34,584 per 10g (indicative). The final price you pay depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of billing.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about ₹2,28,723 per kg today (indicative) after this week's sharp fall.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
Prices have eased on a strong dollar and higher US yields, and gold is steadying near current levels. Tomorrow's US inflation reading is the key swing factor — a softer number could lift prices, a firmer one could weigh on them — so the near-term read is sideways with no certainty either way.
