Good morning β here's where gold and silver stand on the morning of 28 September 2026.
In short (28 September 2026): 24K gold is around βΉ1,52,670/10g and 22K around βΉ1,39,940/10g; silver is about βΉ2,44,900/kg. Gold eased at the start of the week on a firm dollar and a rupee near record lows, while silver held its recent floor β a softer, sideways start ahead of Wednesday's key US inflation reading. These are indicative India reference levels β AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.

What is moving the market this week
Two things are setting the tone. First, the US dollar is firm and the rupee is trading near record lows around βΉ96 to the dollar, with US 10-year yields holding above 5% and markets leaning towards another Fed rate move in October β that combination has taken some of the shine off gold internationally, pulling spot down more than a percent to start the week. Second, safe-haven buying has cooled a little as tensions around the Middle East and oil eased over the weekend.
For us in India there's a cushion, though: the weaker rupee lifts the cost of imported gold, which is why local rates are holding up far better than the dollar price alone would suggest. Festival and wedding demand is also picking up quietly as we head into the season.
The near-term view
My plain read is a soft, sideways start to the week. Gold has slipped off last week's range and is likely to stay choppy, roughly holding a band into Wednesday's US inflation (PCE) data, which is the real swing factor this week. Silver is sitting on the floor it defended last week and looks steady for now. For families buying for a wedding or festival, this is not a day to chase or to panic β buy by your need and your date, in parts, rather than trying to time a single green or red morning. Nothing here is a trading call.
Frequently asked

24K gold is around βΉ1,52,670/10g and 22K around βΉ1,39,940/10g (indicative). The final price you pay depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate.

Will gold prices go up or down this week?
The early tone is soft and sideways, with a firm dollar and rupee weakness pulling in opposite directions; Wednesday's US inflation data is the key event that could set the next move. No one can be certain about the days ahead, so buy by your need rather than a forecast.
