Gold & Silver Rates Today — 28 July 2026

Good morning. Here is where the bullion market stands as we open on 28 July 2026. I write this note every morning so that our customers can walk in with the same picture we have.

In short: On 28 July 2026, 24K gold is around ₹1,43,000 per 10g, 22K gold around ₹1,31,100 per 10g, and silver around ₹2,22,300 per kg in India. Near-term view: sideways to firm, with Wednesday's US Fed decision the key event.

Today's rates at a glance

  • Gold 24K: around ₹1,43,000 per 10g
  • Gold 22K: around ₹1,31,100 per 10g
  • Silver: around ₹2,22,300 per kg

These are indicative market levels for reference only. For the exact rate on any purchase or exchange, please check our live counter (board) rate in store or on WhatsApp — that is the only rate we bill on.

What is moving the market this week

Two things are doing most of the work right now. First, the US Federal Reserve announces its interest-rate decision on Wednesday, and the market is genuinely split on the outcome — that uncertainty alone is keeping gold firm, just below its record zone. Second, the recent flare-up between the US and Iran has paused for talks, which has cooled some of the "fear premium" and pulled oil lower.

Underneath all this, the world's central banks are still steadily buying gold. That quiet, consistent demand is why dips have been shallow this year — every time the price falls, there are buyers waiting. On our side, the rupee near 95 to the dollar keeps landed prices high regardless of what the global rate does.

Silver deserves a special mention: it jumped over 2% in a single session. Silver is half precious metal, half industrial metal — solar panels, electric vehicles and electronics all pull on the same supply — so it tends to move faster than gold in both directions.

The near-term view

My honest read: sideways to firm, and Wednesday is the pivot. If the Fed sounds soft, gold has room to test fresh highs. If it sounds tough on inflation, we could see a healthy pullback — which, for anyone planning a wedding or festival purchase, is usually the better moment to buy. Silver will likely swing more sharply than gold either way, so patience helps there.

For families buying for an occasion rather than trading, the old wisdom still holds best: decide by your need and your date, buy in parts rather than all at once, and don't chase a green day. Rates move both ways, and history rarely repeats exactly.
