Good morning â here's where gold and silver stand this Friday, 18 September 2026.
In short (18 September 2026): 24K gold is around âč1,52,840/10g and 22K around âč1,40,100/10g; silver is about âč2,45,000/kg. Prices are holding firm after this week's US Fed rate hike â steady dollar, easing bond yields and today's Bank of Japan decision are keeping moves two-way, so the near-term read is broadly sideways. These are indicative India reference levels â AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.
Today's rates at a glance
- 24K gold: around âč1,52,840 per 10g (indicative)
- 22K gold: around âč1,40,100 per 10g (indicative)
- Silver: about âč2,45,000 per kg (indicative)
These are indicative reference levels only. The one rate that actually bills your purchase is AT Jewels' live counter/board rate at the time of buying â in store or over WhatsApp.
What is moving the market this week
The big event was the US Federal Reserve, which raised interest rates by a quarter point this week and signalled it may not be finished for the year. Normally a rate hike is a headwind for gold, but prices have actually firmed instead: US government bond yields have eased back from the 5% mark, the dollar is pinned near its recent lows, and a sharp fall in oil has taken some pressure off inflation. Together those have kept safe-haven demand for gold well supported, and silver has bounced back strongly alongside it.
The next thing on the radar is today's Bank of Japan meeting, where a rate rise to a roughly three-decade high is widely expected. Decisions like this can swing the dollar and global yields either way in a matter of hours, so it's sensible to expect some two-way choppiness before the picture settles. Closer to home, the rupee is holding just under the 96 mark against the dollar, which keeps a floor under Indian prices.
The near-term view
My honest read is broadly sideways for both metals in the very short term â gold holding its recent range and silver firm but choppy after a strong two-day bounce. With a major central-bank decision landing today, I wouldn't read too much into any single green or red day. If you're buying for a wedding or a festival, the sensible approach hasn't changed: buy by your need and your date, spread the purchase into parts rather than trying to time a bottom, and don't chase a sharp up-day. This is a directional feel for planning, not a trading call.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today 24K gold is around âč1,52,840/10g and 22K around âč1,40,100/10g (indicative). Your final price depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of purchase.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about âč2,45,000/kg (indicative) today.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
The near-term read is broadly sideways. Gold is holding firm after the US Fed's rate hike, but today's Bank of Japan decision can move the dollar and yields quickly, so short-term direction is genuinely two-way â no one can be certain which way the next few sessions break.
