Good morning β here's where gold and silver stand on the morning of 15 September 2026, with the US Federal Reserve's rate decision now just a day away.
In short (15 September 2026): 24K gold is around βΉ1,54,200/10g and 22K around βΉ1,41,350/10g; silver is about βΉ2,45,000/kg. Prices have steadied after last week's slide, with buyers and traders holding their breath ahead of Wednesday's US Fed decision β the near-term read is broadly sideways for both metals. These are indicative India reference levels; AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.
Today's rates at a glance
- 24K gold: around βΉ1,54,200 per 10g (indicative)
- 22K gold: around βΉ1,41,350 per 10g (indicative)
- Silver: around βΉ2,45,000 per kg (indicative)
These are indicative reference levels only. The one rate that actually bills your purchase is AT Jewels' live counter/board rate at the moment you buy β in store or over WhatsApp.
What is moving the market this week
The single biggest thing on everyone's mind is the US Federal Reserve, which announces its rate decision on Wednesday. Markets are now pricing in a very high chance β roughly 87% β that the Fed raises rates, after a hotter-than-expected US inflation reading and a spike in oil prices firmed up those bets. Higher US interest rates and a firm dollar tend to weigh on gold, which pays no interest of its own, and that pressure pushed gold down to roughly a one-month low last week, slipping below the $4,300 mark internationally.
For us in India, a soft rupee (hovering near 95.8 to the dollar) has cushioned some of that fall, which is why local prices haven't dropped as sharply as the global chart. Silver had a choppy week β it dipped briefly under a key level before steadying β and it tends to swing more than gold, so I'm watching it a little more cautiously.
The near-term view
My honest read for the next day or two is sideways for both gold and silver. The market is in a holding pattern: nobody wants to place big bets the day before a Fed decision, so prices are likely to drift in a tight band until Wednesday, when the real move β up or down β will come. For a family buying for a wedding or festival, this is a perfectly reasonable window to buy by your need and date, ideally in parts rather than trying to time a single "green day." Prices could just as easily tick up as down once the Fed speaks, so don't chase, and don't wait for a perfect bottom that may not arrive. This is guidance for buyers, not a trading tip.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today 24K gold is around βΉ1,54,200 per 10g and 22K around βΉ1,41,350 per 10g (indicative). Your final price depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of purchase.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about βΉ2,45,000 per kg (indicative) today.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
The near-term read is broadly sideways ahead of Wednesday's US Fed decision, which is the key driver right now. If the Fed sounds more hawkish, gold could ease further; if softer, it could bounce. Nobody can be certain about the future β buy by your need rather than trying to predict the next move.
