Good morning β here is your gold and silver update for Friday, 02 October 2026. A quick, honest read on where rates are and what is nudging them, so you can plan your buying without second-guessing the market.
In short (02 October 2026): 24K gold is around βΉ1,48,700/10g and 22K around βΉ1,36,300/10g; silver is about βΉ2,28,500/kg. A firm US dollar and high US bond yields are keeping a lid on gold, while a rise in oil on Middle East tensions lends some support β so the market is broadly sideways, with everyone waiting on the US jobs data due later today. These are indicative India reference levels β AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.
Today's rates at a glance
- 24K gold: around βΉ1,48,700 per 10g (indicative)
- 22K gold: around βΉ1,36,300 per 10g (indicative)
- Silver: about βΉ2,28,500 per kg (indicative)
A quick note: these are indicative reference levels drawn from the national market. The only rate that actually bills your purchase is AT Jewels' live counter / board rate at the moment you buy β in store or over WhatsApp.
What is moving the market this week
Two things are pulling in opposite directions. On one side, the US dollar has firmed to its strongest in months and American bond yields are sitting near two-decade highs β both of those make gold more expensive for the rest of the world and tend to cap it. On the other, fresh tension in the Middle East has pushed oil higher, which revives a little inflation worry and gives gold a quiet safe-haven bid. The two roughly cancel out, which is why prices have been holding a range rather than running anywhere.
For us in India there is a cushion worth knowing about: the rupee is near its weakest ever against the dollar, and a soft rupee keeps our local gold rate firmer than the global move alone would suggest. The big swing factor is the US jobs report due later today β a soft number could lift gold, a strong one could press it β so the market is sitting on its hands until that lands.
The near-term view
My plain read is sideways for now, for both gold and silver, with gold likely to keep hugging its recent band and silver sitting on its multi-week floor. Nothing here points to a clean break either way before the jobs data. If you are buying for a wedding or a festival, the sensible approach is the same as always: buy by your need and your date, spread it across a couple of visits rather than all at once, and don't wait for a βperfectβ green day that may not come. This is a direction read for buyers, not a trading tip.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
Today 24K gold is around βΉ1,48,700 per 10g and 22K around βΉ1,36,300 per 10g (indicative). Your final price depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of billing.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about βΉ2,28,500 per kg (indicative) today.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
It looks broadly sideways right now β a firm dollar and high US yields are capping gold while Middle-East-driven oil lends support. The US jobs data due today is the swing factor, so no one can promise a direction. Buy by your need rather than trying to time it.
