Good morning — here is your gold and silver rate update for 1 October 2026, with my plain read on where things stand.
In short (1 October 2026): 24K gold is around ₹1,49,500/10g and 22K around ₹1,37,000/10g; silver is about ₹2,29,000/kg. A softer-than-expected US inflation print cooled talk of another Fed rate hike, but high US bond yields kept gold from pushing higher — so both metals are holding steady and sideways, with the US jobs report tomorrow the next thing to watch. These are indicative India reference levels — AT Jewels' live counter rate is the billing price.
Today's rates at a glance
- 24K gold: around ₹1,49,500 per 10g (indicative)
- 22K gold: around ₹1,37,000 per 10g (indicative)
- Silver: about ₹2,29,000 per kg (indicative)
These are indicative India reference levels only. The one rate that actually bills your purchase is AT Jewels' live counter/board rate — in store or on WhatsApp.
What is moving the market this week
The big event was Wednesday night's US inflation reading (the Fed's preferred core PCE gauge), which came in cooler than economists expected — about 3.0% against a 3.3% forecast. On its own that is gold-friendly, because softer inflation trims the odds of another US rate hike and nudged the dollar lower. Gold did pop on the news, but the move faded quickly.
The reason it faded is the other side of the story: US government bond yields are sitting near two-decade highs and oil has been firm, and both of those work against gold. So we have a genuine tug-of-war — cooler inflation pulling one way, high yields pulling the other — which is why prices are drifting rather than trending. For buyers in India, the rupee near record-low levels against the dollar is quietly keeping our local prices a touch higher than the global move alone would suggest.
The near-term view
My plain read is sideways for now, for both gold and silver. Gold looks comfortable in a band roughly a little either side of today's level, and silver is holding its recent floor after a sharp fall last week — steady, but still choppy. The next real cue is the US jobs report due tomorrow, which could tip the balance either way, so I would not read too much into a single green or red day right now.
If you are buying for a wedding or a festival, my usual advice holds: buy by your need and your date, and split a larger purchase into parts rather than trying to time the exact bottom. A steady market like this one is a fine time to buy in instalments. This is general guidance for families, not a trading call.
Frequently asked
What is the gold rate today in India?
24K gold is around ₹1,49,500/10g and 22K around ₹1,37,000/10g today (indicative). The final price you pay also depends on making charges, GST and AT Jewels' live counter rate at the time of billing.
What is the silver rate today?
Silver is about ₹2,29,000/kg (indicative) today in India.
Will gold prices go up or down this week?
Right now it looks broadly sideways: cooler US inflation is supportive, but high bond yields are capping the upside, and tomorrow's US jobs report is the swing factor. Nobody can promise a direction for the week — so buy by your need rather than trying to call the move.
